hi I don’t have a Bichon Frise, but I might buy one, what do you do with your Bichon Frise? I heard it needs special care in grooming, is it hard to handle when grooming? I comb my friend’s Shih Tzu many times. What do you do to care for yours? Is it difficult to remove the dirt if it gets matted? would you prefer a Maltese or a Bichon Frise?
Also how big or small is their waste?
A Bichon Friese is precious darling little dogger who requires special attention in every form especially the cuddle and grooming category…
Our was 16 years old and just went to puppy heaven…We loved her so much and miss her terribly even though it’s been a year…
she was so cute, quite the comedian, she slept on the bed, loved car rides and playing with our other 3 dogs and kitty….
If you have time to love her alot..make her part of your family..cuddle with her and walk her 4 times a day…
then she’s the one..
If your life is TOO BUSY a Bichon isn’t the kind of dog who can Wait long hours of time to sit home alone….

I have a Bichon and she is the best, brightest, loving puppy in the world, I can’t imagine another dog fitting so well into our lifestyle. I excersize her no less than 3 times a day. She loves to run and play fetch and frisbee, she loves her walks, but she also loves to lay around and just cuddle or be on her own when you are busy doing something else. She has a gazillion toys to keep her from getting bored and also to teach her to play on her own so she isn’t constantly up my butt if I am busy cleaning or fixing dinner. A bichons personality is the best of both worlds (active, relaxed) She has the most amazing personality and dispostion and temperment. I brush her everyday and bathe her once a week and blow dry her out the whole process takes about 15 minutes. This is always fun because she looks like a drowned rat when wet, but then poofs back to a powder puff when dried. Becauase I brush her everyday (she thinks it’s a massage, I think) anyway I have never had a matting problem. The Bichon would probably be about the same amount of grooming as your maltese. Most people do it about every 6 weeks depending on the cut you could get away with more or less. I highly recommend this breed of dog. But please buy from a reputable breeder, mine is a purebred from a champion line, and was worth every expensive penny, because I know she has the best of her breeds traits. Bichons are happy lovable affectionate dogs and you should not settle for less.

I would actually prefer a Bichon Frise anyday! And I’m not just saying that because I own one! You may hear of how Bichons don’t shed a single hair on their body! This is not true. They do shed constantly just like most other dogs. Their hair is soo curly that their shedded hair actually gets matted up in the other curls. So you would have to constantly brush her I’m sorry to say. But not quite frequently though. I do mine less then I should..You should probably comb AND brush your Bichon Frise about 1-3 times a week. And Before and while you bath it which should be done about 1nce every month or two.
