What Color Do Bichon Frise Come in When They Are Puppies?

I went to see a guy that is selling 2 month old Bichon frise puppies, are pure frise puppies supposed to be all white or is it normal for some of them to have a brownish color? Also do yal think $400 is a reasonable prize for a frise puppy?

$400.00 is a good price… however They are usually Pink (when they are first born) and then white, gray Beige when they grow up… when I say Gray and bege I mean Almost white… just slightly darker like a tinge darker…

it sounds like a mix to me

My aunt has a bichon and she is pure white!

Some bichons come in cream colors so light light brown..almost white. And 400 dollars is reasonable but kinda cheap so it makes me wonder if the dog is from a puppy mill.

The brown fades as they get older; all bichons are white

They are supposed to be while. Some poorly bred ones have faint yellow or beige tints around the ears or down the middle of their backs, but it’s not correct. Good bloodlines will always be white. I certainly wouldn’t pay $400 for a brown Bichon.

Here are the standards for this breed of dog….

It is normal for them to have some apricot or cream coloring. Mostly they are all white.

I would explore before I got one for 400 dollars. You want to make sure you get a good one from a reputable breeder.

Color is white, may have shadings of buff, cream or apricot around the ears or on the body. Any color in excess of 10% of the entire coat of a mature specimen is a fault and should be penalized, but color of the accepted shadings should not be faulted in puppies.

This is from the Bichon Frise club of America.

$400 is expensive if he’s not a reputable breeder. Does he guarantee his dogs? Did he breed for health and conformation? Are they AKC registered (which doesn’t always guarantee a good puppy, but is usually good)?

    Hope this helped(:

They should be all white. Does the parents have papers? are the pups registered? $400.00, is the average price, if they are registered, have seen a vet, got their first set of vaccinations, and been de wormed twice. If the parents are registered, does he have their pedigree papers? Does he have both parents? Could she have been bred by more than one male? Sorry, a lot of questions, but you need to know this information, when spending that kind of money on a dog. Breeders have been known to say, "oh ya, he’s the dad", but use another dogs papers. Check them out well before you buy. See what kind of a guarantee they are going to give you, and get it in writing. Always cover your butt! If you buy this pup, take it immediately to your Vet to be checked over.

cream on the ears is more common. i would worry about it being purebred if it has brown.., but i agree with the person above about the puppymill. did you get to see the parent? all the dogs at the property? is it vaccinated? dewormed? are they AKC reg?
