i am considering getting a bichon frise and was wondering if you have to take them to the groomers a lot. i kind of need a dog that doesn’t need to go to groomers a lot.
I’m thinking 12 weeks is the longest you would want to go without a trip to the groomers. Every eight weeks is typical.

If you want your Bichon to always look like a show dog with the full Bichon cut, then yes, it will need to be taken to the groomers a lot! But you can do a close crop and then you will only need to take it in two or three times a year to get it cropped again.

like the first person said it depends how you want it to look. i have three dogs that get groomed a lot. a cocker spaniel, mini poodle, and a standard poodle. my crew go every 6 weeks 8 weeks or 12. it just depends on my mood and how they look.
dogs that are low shedders might not be for you, they tend to need the groomers more often.
my cocker spaniel doesnt go as often as the other two.
