Can a six year old Labrador retriever get along with a Bichon Frise Puppy?

I have a six year old retriever and am now getting a female Bichon Frise puppy? will this work out?an they be companions? As soon as I can I will get the female Bichon spayed.

Nobody can say for certain that the two will become ‘friends’.
But they can learn to live harmoniously together. Labs are generally very even tempered, where as Bichon’s are a bit more high-strung. A Bichon puppy would be even more so. As long as you take the time to introduce them slowly, I’m sure it will work out just fine.
But for the sake of your lab, let him/her have some time away from the puppy every once in a while!

It really only depends on the dogs. My six year old lab gets along well with small dogs and cats. It's likely that they'll sniff each other a lot at first, and it'll be strange for your retriever to get used to another dog, but they will both get used to each other. They may be good friends, or they may stay away from each other most of the time. See if you can let them meet before you bring home the puppy, and see their reactions.

We got a Chihuahua and tried to introduce it to our 5 year old aussie, who hadnt had alot of dog interation. We would take her to the dog park and on walks, but she was always more interested in her ball or going on walks. She didnt really like the new dog and felt super left out and sad and left everytime the puppy came in the room. Depending on if your dog likes other dogs or not. You should still introduce them on mutual grounds like a park so your dog doesnt feel threatened by the new "intruder"!

Any dog can get along with any dog, just introduce them slowly and gently and keep an eye on them. Hopefully it'll work out (:

Best of luck!

This depends on the personality of both dogs
they should get along however retrievers can be territorial and may not except another dog
