Why?

The only people intentionally breeding mixes like that will be unscrupulous back yard breeders and puppy millers who just want to make as much money as they can off them.

You should go to a reputable breeder of one or the other breeds-someone who health tests their breeding stock and shows the parents.

No one with a conscience breeds mutts.

If you want a mixed breed, go to a shelter. Don't get ripped off.

Intentional mutts don't come from breeders, they come from puppy mills. REAL breeders breed REAL dogs. If you want a mutt, go to the pound.

Why would you want to support unethical mills or BYB? Who knows what will be passed off to you as "Biton" anyway as there will be no way of guaranteeing what a breeder like that says. Also you are gambling on the health of the dog as someone who cross breeds does not spend money to test parents. Go to Petfinder.com and look up bichon frise rescues or coton de tulear rescues (if there are any) or get a full bred dog from a responsible breeder.

I'm curious how the posters here think all "real" dog breeds came about? Spontaneous mutation? In the beginning… good grief. Furthermore, if I were to believe what I read here… and I don't… if I spend a small fortune on a "real" dog, I'll get one with no inherent health issues because everyone knows no one overbreeds the "real" dogs, right?

Of course there are, far too many, irreputable breeders for whom shooting is no where near good enough… but to suggest that ONLY people who breed same2same are producing "real" or healthy dogs is illogical and indefensible as well. To say otherwise is just ignorant and uninformed, because HISTORY doesn't support such a paradigm… sorry, it just doesn't. There are all kinds of responsible breeders and all kinds of irresponsible breeders… over generalizing any group or behavior is nothing more than prejudicial bigotry and I'd like to believe that is not the intent here.

I certainly support and encourage finding homes for all the puppies and dogs that already need homes, but these ad hominem attacks on individuals and situations about whom you have no specific personal knowledge is bigotry, not information. And it isn't helpful to the cause of protecting animals… or people.

Do your due diligence, research the breeds, INVESTIGATE ANY breeder… with BBB and everywhere else… visit the breeder if remotely possible, more than once, check out the local shelters and rescue facilities, and find the pet of your dreams.

You run just as high a risk of bringing home a nightmare no matter WHERE you get it unless you do, and even then, there are no guarantees.

Like the original poster, I already know what the overwhelming response to this will be, but…
