I'm looking for a breeder who breeds Bichon Frise-Pomeranian mixes. Preferably in the Southern US.
I found a Bichon-A-Ranian at PetLand today, but REFUSE to buy, what is I'm sure, a sickly dog from PetLand. So, I'm looking for a breeder who will breed these dogs. What health risks should I be worried about? And pricing? PLEASE HELP!
I also do not agree with "puppy mills" as they are called. But I do desire this dog. Please do not post the "dont buy mutts" speech. I don't want a purebreed pom or bichon, I asked for the health of this mix, and for a breeder contact information. Thank you!
In this case, buying one or asking someone to breed you one is the same thing.
Deliberately breeding mixed breed dogs is wrong.
It's different when the puppy is already here and needs a home.

Any BYB that doesn't care for health, just for money. Seriously, decide which purebred dog you want and go to a REPUTABLE breeder. OR you could try your local humane society. They have lots of mutts up for adoption.

Google it in your area.

Google the Bichion Frise or Pomeranian Rescue sites first, they give you TONS of information…Tons.

You might find one in a local shelter in your area… or another mix of either Pom or Bichon. I would advise against giving money to ANY "breeder" that produces mixes/mutts for the sole purpose of making cash.

What do you expect? What you are looking for is a mutt and only bad breeders breed mutts.

If you like Bichons, find a good breeder of bichons.
If you like Poms, find a good bereder of poms.
Do not support these greedy "breeders" who are just trying to make a buck off of you by breeding their low quality, sickly dogs.
Added: If you don't have a conscience, then I'll tell you about the "health" of these mutts. Typically, they are unhealthy. Because the "breeders" are breaking the rules by breeding them, they typically only use low quality dogs that are loaded with genetic defects. When they start to blow knees and go blind, this is going to cost you thousands and thousands of dollars to fix.
Bad breeders also usually have dogs with bad temerapments. So, when you get sued beacuse your dog bit the little boy up the street, expect to not only owe a hundred thousand dollars, but to also have your dog killed.
Again, NO GOOD BREEDER BREEDS MUTTS! If you want a healthy, good dog, buy a purebred.
Or, rescue one from a shelter.
You haven't done ANY research if you think there is ANY difference between a mutt BYB and a puppy mill.

I'm very happy that you refuse to get a puppy from a pet store. However, no good breeder would EVER intentionally mix breeds. As you said, it's a Bichon Frise/Pomeranian MIX. It's a mutt. Nothing more, nothing less. Calling it a Bichon-A-Ranian doesn't make it more of a breed.
The purpose of breeding is to improve the breed, not try and create a new one. When you intentionally mix breeds, what are you improving? Nothing. Please do not support irresponsible backyard breeders by purchasing a mixed breed from a so-called breeder. You will not find a breeder who shows their dogs, completes all proper genetic and health tests, is interested in improving the qualities of their breed, isn't in it at all for money, and strives to produce puppies as close to the breed standard as possible if they mix breeds.
Please consider finding a responsible breeder of Bichon Frises or Pomeranians. A responsible breeder wouldn't mix breeds. You can also check out http://www.petfinder.com for dogs in you area. You may just find the mix you're looking for. Please don't put your money forth to support irresponsible breeding practices to produce more mutts.

Many things to address here:
You've got the right idea not buying a dog from a pet store. However; a "breeder" selling "Bichon-A-Ranians" is really not any better. Intentionally breeding mixed-breed dogs simply adds to the over-population problem.
There are a few good options, though…
Look at some literature on Bichon Frises, Pomeranians, and similar breeds. There's nothing wrong with liking the way a particular puppy looks, but a puppy of one of these breeds may have the look that you find so cute.
Chances are, you'll never find another "Bichon-A-Ranian" that looks exactly like the puppy you saw. This is a mixed-breed, so each puppy will have a different balance of Pomeranian and Bichon characteristics.
If you're dead-set on a Bichon-Pomeranian mix, try searching for rescue groups specializing in each of these breeds. You may just find the perfect pet among the many homeless pets already out there looking for homes! By doing so, you would also allow the rescue organization the space to save another pet.
